Burn, Baby, Burn!

Leadership is intimidated by passion.

I see it over and over. The one thing that most leaders want to avoid is a crowd of people who really believe something. It is so much easier to be in charge when the natives aren’t restless.

That is especially true in our churches. Lord knows we could use a little passion in the place but “wildfire” is the last thing the pulpit wants to deal with today.

May 11th, Mother’s Day, was Pentecost Sunday. It is the once-a-year celebration of the arrival of the Promise of Jesus that he would send a “Comforter” that would baptize believers in fire.

The Separation of Truth and State

Daily, our government is becoming more and more removed from the will of the people. I want to gag every time I hear one of our elected officials start pontificating on what “the American people want.” They are so removed from the people that they really have no idea, and they really don’t care what the American people want.

Ban the Bible

For the past week I have been standing by my friend, John Freshwater, a public school teacher who has been ordered by the Mount Vernon City Schools to remove his own personal Bible from his desk.

The students turned out en masse to support this popular science teacher. The ACLU has done all that they can do to scare everyone.

Yesterday the school board switched tactics. Because the public uproar in support of Mr. Freshwater was so great they decided it was time to pull out the smoke and mirrors.

The Prodigal Nation

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools…”

The American ship is being steered by fools. The official policy of the American government is the worship of nature. (“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened…..Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator,)

The captains of the “ship of fools” have turned to worship of the creation rather than the worship of the “Creator.”

Christian Hedonism

Obama recently called abortion a “difficult issue.” That is a nice way of saying you must ignore all of your moral instincts. Killing an unborn baby is not a “difficult issue” if your conscience still works. Everyone knows the “fetus” is a human being, unless, of course, you are looking for an excuse to do wrong. Going against your conscience is difficult business.

He called the miraculous creation of a baby “punishment.” I know you think I am making this up. Watch for yourself. And this man is being considered as president of the United States??

The Death of Shame

Whatever happened to shame?

I suppose some of it could be traced to Dr. Spock, as he is responsible for so much of what is wrong with child-rearing these days, or to Benjamin Bloom, and John Dewey, two acolytes-of-atheism, men who promoted the Humanistic ideals that have replaced Christianity as the bedrock of our educational system. “If it feels good, do it” has replaced “Thou shall not.”

What Color is Your Christianity?

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3.

Could somebody please explain to me what in the world a “black Christian” is? Or, for that matter, a “Methodist Christian,” or “Baptist Christian,” or “conservative Christian?”

All of this talk about race; about white Christians and black Christians; white churches and black churches, must just break the Lord’s heart! How have we allowed the sacrifice of Jesus upon the cross to be whittled down to nothing more than human skin pigmentation?

Light a Fire Under Your Pastor

I never knew that I would hit such a nerve. I was merely verbalizing what I had experienced over the past eight years.

Because of my last commentary “…And The Pulpits Are Silent I almost had to get a new internet server to handle all of the emails that came flooding in. Not ONE….I’ll say that again….not one disagreed with what I wrote. Now I know that not all of the readers agreed with me, but it says something when even the dissenters are mute. They usually LOVE to take me to task….but they were strangely silent on this issue.

...and the Pulpits Are Silent

Despite what the political parties would like you to believe, the problem in America is not the politicians, it is the pulpits. I hate to break the news to you, but most of America’s pulpits are filled with cowardly men. They are a shame to the Christ they claim to serve.

Harsh words, aren’t they? Not the type of thing that will make any friends in this “cheap-Grace” culture in which we live. But that’s okay. I’m not looking to make friends.

I am about fed-up with what I see. How did we ever get such man-pleasing leaders? All that our fore-fathers held dear is being destroyed before our very eyes and hardly a peep from the pulpit. They don’t want to hear it. It's the pulpiteers that I am talking about. They are concerned with being too harsh, they tell me that “Jesus is in control,” that they are not “called” to fight evil and that "we should pray for our enemies.”

Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead

We have Obama to thank. He finally has rid us of the Clintons.

The media is shocked that Democrats have so quickly turned against Hillary. She was the anointed one, the heir apparent, the successor to the throne. One year ago Bill was measuring curtains for his wife’s office.

But Americans are sick of politics. They are filled to the gills with the venom hissing from “both sides of the aisle.” They are tired of scandals, tired of war, tired of gas-prices, tired of being played for a fool. They are not sure what the problems are, but they know there are problems...
